Nitro RC Engine Sleeve Pinching Service | Piston & Sleeve Resizing

Powerband Precision’s Piston & Sleeve Resizing service is designed to help restore compression and extend the usable life of worn RC nitro engine piston and sleeve sets.

Also known as sleeve pinching, this service carefully resizes the cylinder sleeve to restore proper pinch between the piston and sleeve. A worn sleeve can cause low compression, hard starting, poor idle, weak throttle response, inconsistent tuning, and reduced overall performance.

This service is ideal for nitro engines that still have usable internal components but have lost compression from normal wear. Restoring sleeve pinch can help improve sealing, increase compression, and bring back more consistent running behavior without immediately replacing the piston and sleeve.

Each piston and sleeve set is inspected before resizing to confirm whether it is a good candidate for the service.

***Our sleeve resizing process uses a controlled tapered pinch, not just a tight pinch at TDC. The goal is to restore a smooth, gradual pinch profile through the upper bore for improved compression, sealing, and piston movement.

Important notes: Sleeve pinching cannot repair severe damage, deep scoring, flaking chrome, cracked sleeves, badly worn pistons, or heavily damaged engine internals. If the piston and sleeve are too worn or damaged, replacement may be recommended instead.

A quantity of 1 = a set of 1 piston and 1 sleeve.

We do resizing for engine's sized .12 through .28 only.

Please Note: This service price applies when the piston and sleeve are sent already removed from the engine. Feel free to send the complete engine, though a small fee will be applied for disassembly/reassembly.
